ICC to enroll new adult education students during Feb. 1-3 orientation session Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students with a three-day orientation session, Feb. 1-3, at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road). Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden. Students who plan to enroll in any of the classes offered in the ICC five-county district should attend. ICC's PMMT program receives Gene Haas Foundation grant Itawamba Community College’s Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology program has received a $14,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation. According to Dylan Baldwin, ICC’s director of Career Education, the funds will be used for student aid and certifications. “We appreciate very much the investment by the Haas Foundation in ICC’s Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology program,” Baldwin said. “Not only is it an investment in the program, but it is an investment in the futures of our students.” In 1999, Gene Haas formed the foundation which bears his name because he grew up with a strong social conscience instilled by his family. It was initially designed to fund the needs of the local community. Haas Automation is now a billion-dollar company. The focus of the foundation has shifted to the current outreach and methodology. Its purpose is to introduce students to careers in machine technology and manufacturing, to build skills in the machining industry and to help military veterans enroll in programs that train them to become skilled machinists. ICC to host February Fridays preview for prospective students Itawamba Community College will host February Fridays to provide a preview for prospective students. Dates, time and locations include from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Feb. 4, 11 and 25 at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus; and Feb. 18 in the Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus. 2022 spring semester registration continues at ICC Registration for the 2022 spring semester at Itawamba Community College will continue through Jan. 14 for traditional full-term day and night classes. Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Jan. 10; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Jan. 18. The last day to add eLearning first eight-week classes is Jan. 19, and eLearning full-term classes, Jan. 21. Financial aid is available, as well as adult learner scholarships. ICC, Regional Rehab Center launch innovative partnership Itawamba Community College and the Regional Rehabilitation Center have launched an innovative partnership with the addition of free adult education classes. ICC President Dr. Jay Allen and Adult Education Director Linzy Patterson and Regional Rehab Center Executive Director Robby Parman welcomed the first students to class, Jan. 5. “For ICC, we’ve had a long-standing relationship with the Regional Rehab Center, so this partnership was a no-brainer,” Allen said. “The idea was to move the needle for the communities we serve, and the Regional Rehab Center has a great ministry. The path to prosperity goes through education, and this is a tremendous opportunity to help people who did not achieve that education in high school, and we’re really good at that.” Allen said that both entities refer students and clients to each other, and over the years, ICC has hosted numerous fundraisers for the Regional Rehab Center, so this is an ideal partnership.
