MSBC class to begin Apr. 29 at ICC-Belden Registration is continuing for a night class option for the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification program, which will begin Apr. 29 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. The class will meet Mondays through Thursdays through June 19 from 6-9 p.m. The program is designed to prepare students desiring to have a career in high-performance manufacturing to be successful. Through this program, students use critical thinking skills, update core skills and knowledge and will earn nationally-recognized credentials. Knowlton to perform, judge at Indians Got Talent finale Itawamba Community College alumnus Landen Knowlton of Tupelo, winner of the College’s Indian Idol in 2014, will return to his alma mater Apr. 2 to be a guest judge and performer during the finale of Indians Got Talent. The event will be in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus at 7 p.m. Most recently, Knowlton was featured on American Idol. He is a singer-songwriter in a quiet reserved coffee shop sort of way. Instead, his lyrics throw punches, and his melodies conquer the heart. He knows what it is like to sing his Americana tunes to the walls, but his persistence and talent have taken him from coast to coast. Through opening for accomplished performers, including Dylan Schneider, Knowlton discovered what it takes to create well-crafted songs that connect with toddlers, boomers and everyone in between. Five sophomores named to All-Mississippi Academic Team Five Itawamba Community College sophomores have been named to the All-Mississippi Academic Team. They include Matthew Burrows of Mantachie; Devin Bennett of Sherman; Makaela Dickerson of Smithville; Gregory Parker Anderson and Karlee Avery, both of Tupelo. Anderson is vice president of the Computer Programming and Networking Association at ICC. His honors include dean’s list. He is majoring in Computer Programming Technology. Anderson’s other activities include bass guitar player at his church. He is the son of Brenda Anderson and Larry Anderson. Avery is a general studies/pre-nursing major at ICC where she is a member of the Indian Delegation and co-vice president of service for the Beta Tau Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. "Restoration" viewing set for Mar. 21 Itawamba Community College’s Film Club will host a viewing of “RESTORATION,” at 6:30 p.m., Mar. 21, in the W.O. ICC sets three-day weekend opportunity this fall This fall, Itawamba Community College will transition to a four-day instructional schedule for the majority of classes, offering a three-day weekend opportunity as an option to all students. There will be no change in office hours, cafeteria services, residence hall operation or provision of any services to students or the community. Practice for athletic teams and performance arts groups will not be affected. Dickerson named Coca-Cola Silver Scholar Itawamba Community College sophomore Makaela Dickerson of Smithville has been named a 2019 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship. Dickerson is a member of the Indian Delegation, Sigma Kappa Delta, Honors Program, president of the Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and MS/LA Regional Reporter, orientation leader, student worker and participant in intramural sports at ICC. Her honors include HEADWAE recipient, All-Mississippi Academic Team and Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise. Dickerson’s other activities are film internship and member of Amory Church of Christ. She is the daughter of Tim and Jennifer Dickerson.
