2019 ICC Most Beautiful Pageant set for Feb. 12

            The 2019 Itawamba Community College Most Beautiful Pageant is scheduled for 7 p.m., Feb. 12, at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus.             Awards to be presented include 2019 Most Beautiful; first, second, third and fourth alternates; Top 10; People’s Choice Award; Most Social Award; Miss Congeniality; Most Photogenic and Most Ad Sales.             Special guests will be Miss Mississippi 2018 Asya Branch and Miss Mississippi Teen USA Kaylee Brooke McCollum, who is currently an ICC student; and ICC Most Beautiful 2018 Jada Standifer.             Tickets are available for $7 at www.iccms.edu/tickets.             The pageant is sponsored by ICC Alumni Affairs and Foundation.             For more information, contact Dr. Jan Reid-Bunch, executive director, at jrbunch@iccms.edu or (662) 862-8035.

HSE completion bonus

           Those who need to earn a high school equivalency credential (GED or HiSET) can do so at Itawamba Community College between now and Mar. 31 and receive a $100 completion bonus.             Classes are available through the ICC Adult Education program in Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties.             Those who are interested or need more information should call (662) 407-1538.

2019-20 Cheerleader Tryouts Rescheduled

            Itawamba Community College has rescheduled its 2019-20 cheerleader and mascot tryouts for 4 p.m., Mar. 22, on the Fulton Campus in the Fitness Center gym.             Tryouts will include the all-female cheer squad, coed cheer squad and the mascot, Chief Winnemaw.             Clinics are scheduled for 4-6 p.m., Mar. 19 and 20 in the Fitness Center gym on the Fulton Campus. The cost is $30, and checks and money orders should be made payable to Itawamba Community College. All participants are required to attend both sessions, according to cheer sponsor Evie Storey.             For tryouts, coed cheer participants will be required to perform a cheer, the ICC Fight Song, five partner stunts and standing and running tumbling. The cheer and ICC Fight Song will be taught to participants at the clinics.             Those who try out for mascot, Chief Winnemaw, will be required to perform a 1-2 minute skit using music and props.             For more information, contact Storey at (662) 620-5078 or email elstorey@iccms.edu.

Melanie Francis selected ICC's William Winter Scholar

            Fulton native Melanie McCrimon Francis of Saltillo, lead online English instructor, has been selected as Itawamba Community College’s William Winter Scholar for 2019.             She will be among statewide recipients honored during opening and closing ceremonies at the 30th Annual Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration, Feb. 21-23.             Francis, who is in her eleventh year at ICC, was first employed in 2007 in workforce development as the instructional technology specialist and in 2008, she moved to eLearning as the lead online instructor to design and instruct the business and office technology, computer and information systems online courses. In 2014, Francis assumed her current position. She credits her strong start at ICC as a “catalyst for beginning a very rewarding education and career.”             Francis earned the associate’s degree from ICC in 1998 and the bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Mississippi University for Women in 2000. ICC's Calliope to feature work by area students

            The work of several area students will be featured in The Calliope during the 2019 spring semester at Itawamba Community College.             The poets and their work include Dylan Barnett (“RYL”) of Aberdeen, Tierra Hood (“A Small Country Church”) of Fulton, Dylan McCalla (“I AM”) of Guntown, Becky Blanton (“Letters to a Lark”) of Hamilton, Isabella McCarley (“X.I.T.”) of Mantachie, Brynmarie Cowart (“Cirque du Chagrin”) of Marietta, Chelsea Randle (“Forgetting Pain”) of Prairie, Mary Elizabeth Moore (“A Cat Sits On My Lap”) of Red Bay, Ala., Leia Kosteck (“Remember the way he held you”) of Saltillo and Madison Stanford (“Eleanor”) of Tupelo.             The Calliope is ICC’s literary magazine. ICC schedules 2019 spring open registration

            Open registration at Itawamba Community College has been scheduled for the 2019 spring semester.             Dates and times include Jan. 7 and 8 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus and Jan. 7 from 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. and Jan. 8 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus.             It is possible to register for spring semester classes through Jan. 15 for traditional full-term classes and the January eight-week traditional term; Jan. 23 for the January eight-week eLearning term; and Jan. 25 for full-term eLearning classes, but a late registration fee of $15 will be assessed. However, class selection could possibly be limited.             Traditional day classes begin Jan. 9, and eLearning classes, Jan. 22.             ICC offers an Adult Learner Incentive Scholarship, which is designed to provide an incentive for new or returning students, age 23 or older, not enrolled in college for the previous two years to pursue a degree at ICC.             Academic, career, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available ...

Food Service Pathway class set for Jan. 7

            Itawamba Community College has scheduled a four-week Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Jan. 7.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. through Feb. 1.             The program includes Serve Safe® certification, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations.             The class is offered in partnership with Families First of Mississippi.             For more information or to register, contact program director Christy Scheuer at acscheuer@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1505.
