Second summer term registration

Individuals who wish to attend second summer session classes at Itawamba Community College can register online now or take advantage of open registration at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. In addition, a four-week eLearning term is an option. Open registration for the second summer term is from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., June 30, in the Registrar/Admissions office at the Fulton Campus or the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus. Classes begin July 3, and the last day to add classes is July 6. The eLearning four-week term classes begin June 26, which is also the last day to add classes. A list of classes is available at www.iccms.edu by clicking on Admissions and then ICC Course Schedules - Live. Honors for ICC's Layne Carnathan

Layne Carnathan of Shannon placed second in the Career Quest Portfolio competition at the annual Practical Nursing convention recently in Biloxi. In addition, she is the first recipient of the $1,000 Jay Slaughter Scholarship through the National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses, for which the qualifications are a member of the LPN Association with a 3.0 grade point average. She was selected on the basis of submission of her application with outstanding recommendations and community service. Carnathan works part-time at Elite Medical. The daughter of David and Tensie Carnathan, she is married to Jerry Chadwick. Also, for the sixth time in seven years, ICC’s Practical Nursing program won the community service project.

Ashlynn Beam receives award

Recent Itawamba Community College graduate Ashlynn Beam of Nettleton has received the Mississippi Radiological Society’s student award. At ICC, Beam was named to the President’s List and was the recipient of the 2017 Radiologic Technology award. She attends the Shannon Church of Jesus Christ where she is a praise team member, youth choir director and Bible quizzing coach. She is the daughter of Paul and Tammy Beam. Criteria for selection for the award include high academic achievement, sound moral character and financial need.

July freshman orientation

Online registration continues for the July freshman orientation sessions at Itawamba Community College. Both morning (8-11:45 a.m.) and afternoon (1-4:45 p.m.) sessions are scheduled for July 10 at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus and July 13 at the Health Science Education Center at the Tupelo Campus.  Morning only sessions will be July 11 at the Fulton Campus and July 14 at the Tupelo Campus. Students may check in from 8-8:45 a.m. for the morning session and from 1-1:45 p.m. for the afternoon session. The schedule includes small group sessions, campus tours, computer training and registration. ID and yearbook photos will be made.  A special parent orientation session will cover topics of special interest to parents.  ICC orientation is mandatory for all graduating high school seniors. Students must have submitted an application for admission before registering for orientation. In addition, they should register for the session at the campus where they plan to attend and should sign up as soon as possible since only a maximum number can attend each session. Klines endow ICC scholarship

Tommy and Natalie Kline of Fulton are providing an opportunity for future Itawamba Community College students to achieve their dreams through their recent scholarship endowment.             The Tommy and Natalie Kline Endowed Scholarship will fund full-tuition for any deserving full-time student with financial need.             Tommy, an Aberdeen native, met Natalie, lifelong Fulton resident, at then-Itawamba Junior College in the spring of 1976. He returned to IJC to complete work on the associate’s degree in business, which he began a couple of years earlier when he was recruited by Tom Childs to play football at IJC. He played for Coach Dudley Miller, and then Coach Ben Jones. He said he would never have gone to college if it were not for that athletic scholarship. Tommy also later drove from Aberdeen to the Tupelo Campus two nights a week for 18 months to complete the Heating and Air Conditioning program.             Enter Natalie, who credits IJC for her significant background in science, especially chemistry, physics and zoology, all valuable for her degree and employment in the medical technology field.             The Tommy and ...
